Lomax rounds off the year with podium

Lomax rounds off the year with podium. Round eight of the British Rallycross championship in association with Odyssey Batteries headed to Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire for the 2016 season finale.

Craig Lomax and his XtremeRX Team headed to their home event knowing that retaining the championship crown wasn’t possible. This however didn’t deter them as the aim was to put in a solid and reliable performance to see the season out.

The qualifying heats were run as a ‘super’ class amalgamating Hot Hatch, BMW Mini and Super 1600 together to give full grids and better racing. The Milltek and Baxi backed driver got off to a good start in tricky conditions. On the third lap of Q2 however disaster struck when he lost one of his front wheels giving him a DNF. He was straight back to business claiming second overall in the final round of qualifying. He still secured a front row grid position for the final and headed into the first corner after the long drag from the start in third place, a position he held until the checkered flag six laps later. Even with this season string of bad luck he was able to see the year out in third place over all.

The 2017 season gets underway again at Croft on 19th March

Craig Lomax, #24:

“Considering the problems we have had to overcome this year I happy with third place, at times it felt like we wouldn’t see the end of the season! We are already preparing for next year, this is Rallycross we have to just move on and come back better each time we go out and race.

I can’t thank my supporters and especially my sponsors enough without them racing just wouldn’t be possible”
